Robert E. Magin

Westminster Robert Eugene Magin, 39, of Olney, formerly of Westminster, died Thursday May 6, 2010, at Montgomery County Hospice in Gaithersburg. Born Sept. 21, 1970, in Westminster, he was the son of Edwin E. and Charlotte Osterhus Magin, of Westminster. He was the husband of Jennifer Magin, whom he married in 1996. He was a graduate of Westminster High School, class of 1988, where he ran track and cross-country. He was a 1992 graduate of University of Maryland Baltimore County with a degree in computer science and also received his Master of Business Administration from University of Maryland College Park in 1995. He also was an accomplished track runner in college. He was an accountant with Marriott Headquarters in Bethesda. He was a member of Gaithersburg Presbyterian Church and a member of Montgomery County Roadrunners. He ran many marathons including the 100th running of the Boston Marathon. Surviving, in addition to his parents and wife, are children Mary Beth, Paul and Christine Magin, all of Olney; a maternal grandmother, Virginia "Ginny" Osterhus, of Westminster; a sister, Dolores "Dodie" Magin-Amonick, of Westminster; and a nephew, David Evan Amonick. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Gaithersburg Presbyterian Church, 610 S. Frederick St., Gaithersburg, with a second memorial service being held at a later date at Carrollton Church.
