1942 - 2022

Shirley Ann Garland, 80, of Finksburg, MD passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at her daughter's home in New Windsor, MD. Born January 10, 1942 in Huntingdon, PA, she was the cherished daughter of the late Henry Clay and Loretta Mae (Shore) Wible. She was the loving wife of the late Wade Earl Garland, whom she married on October 21, 1961 in Hustonstown , PA. He predeceased her on December 1, 2020. Shirley was raised on the family farm and graduated from Saltillo High School, Class of 1960. She was a dedicated homemaker, and lovingly raised her daughters until she went back to work. She was employed at Lion Brothers, for 31 years, and retired as a supervisor. She then worked for Weis Markets in Hampstead as a Deli Slicer for 29 years, until her retirement on December, 2021. She loved her family, and especially enjoyed cooking for them. She liked going to carnivals, country music, playing the lottery, going out to eat, dancing and attending any outing she could. She was an avid Orioles and Ravens fan. She was loved by everyone and will be deeply missed. Surviving her are daughters Cathy Garland Baker and husband Dale of New Windsor, MD, Denise Garland Stephan and husband Larry of Westminster, MD and Penny Garland Williams and husband Darren of Westminster, MD; grandchildren John W. Reiter of Washington, D.C., Shawn Reiter (Bethany) of Taneytown, MD, Nicole Stephan Ranoull (Chris) of Westminster, MD, Bryan Stephan (Tiffany) of Littlestown, PA, Elizabeth O'Neill of Westminster, MD, Stanley Baker of Fredericksburg, VA, Cole Baker (Nicole) of Greencastle, PA, Jessica Hodge (Matt) of Jefferson, MD and Amanda Hieatzman (Brad) of Westminster, MD; great grandchildren Lillian, Riley, and Brantley Reiter, Bailey and Brooklyn Ranoull, Colton and Brinley Stephan, Addison Hieatzman, Morgan and Aubrey Hodge, Hailey, Brielle, Xander and Camdyn Baker; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by siblings Geraldine Smith, Harold Wible, Sr., Robert Wible, and Dorothy Shope. The family will welcome friends on Monday, August 22, 2022 from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at 10 am at the funeral home.
