Timothy Heffner Obituary

Timothy Mark Heffner, age 75, of Westminster, died Monday, August 25, 2025, at BridgingLife Hospice at Northwest Hospital, Randallstown. Born January 31, 1950 in Gettysburg, PA, he was the son of the late Markwood Heffner and Mae Elizabeth Hymiller Heffner. He was the husband of Connie Bostian Heffner, his wife of 56 years. Tim was a 1968 graduate of Francis Scott Key High School, attended a technical school for data processing and he served for six years in the Maryland National Guard. He was employed as a data processing manager with DPA of Towson prior to retirement. He was a former member of and attended the Frizzellburg Bible Church. Tim coached baseball and basketball for the Hampstead Lions traveling leagues, had been a past president of the North Carroll Babe Ruth baseball league and a past president of the Hampstead Lions Club-sponsored baseball and softball teams. He was a big fan of the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens, enjoyed fishing, visiting the Outer Banks, reading about the Civil War and had a "green thumb" for success with growing plants and flowers. Tim had miraculously survived so many previous health issues that he was often referred to as the "cat with nine lives". His greatest love, by far, was being PaPaw to his grandchildren and he never missed attending one of their games or events. In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, James Mark Heffner and wife Minnie of Hanover, MD and Amy Jewell and husband Grant of Westminster; grandchildren, Emma, Timothy (T.J.) and Chase Jewell and Helena Heffner; three sisters, Elizabeth Prise, Janice Robertson and Dean and Lori Peterson and Mark; sister-in-law, Ruth Mort and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Rice and brother-in-law, Dr. Kenneth Mort. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 29, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 310 Church St., New Windsor, with Pastor Andrew Reisberg, of Brookneal Baptist Church, Brookneal, VA, officiating. Military interment will follow in Pipe Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 28. Memorial contributions may be made in Tim's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105. A message of condolence or memory may be placed on his "tribute wall" at www.hartzlerfuneralhome.
