Virginia L. "Ginny" Bruce

Virginia "Ginny" L. Bruce, 84, of Carroll Lutheran Village in Westminster died Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at the Carroll Lutheran Village Health Care Center.

Born Feb. 20, 1930, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late H. Edward and Anna Marie Jacobi Dailey. She was the wife of J. Dwight Bruce, who died Feb. 29, 2000.

She was retired, after 38 years, from the American Urological Association in Baltimore as an event and meeting planner.

She was a former member of First Lutheran Church in Ellicott City; and currently was a member of St. Luke's (Winters) Lutheran Church in New Windsor.

Surviving are cousin Emily Hattery and husband the Rev. John "Hatch" Hattery, of Westminster; a nephew, John Hattery, of Sykesville; a sister, Carolyn Brydan, of Timonium; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

She was predeceased by siblings Charles and Luther Dailey, and Catherine Tilley.

The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until the time of a memorial service, 10 a.m. Saturday, March 15, at Carroll Lutheran Village, Krug Chapel, 300 St. Luke Circle, Westminster, with the Rev. Anne C. Durboraw and the Rev. Jimmie L. Schwartz co-officiating. Burial will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Marriottsville.
