Dr. Z. Valaire Brosey

1931 - 2021

Dr. Z. Valaire Brosey, 89, of Finksburg passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at her home. Born May 27, 1931, in Henry County, IN she was the daughter of the late Donald Estey and Audrey Geraldine (Swinehart) Clampitt. She was the devoted wife of the late Wilfred Eugene "Will" Brosey, who predeceased her on October 23, 2018. She earned her doctorate degree in Education from the University of Maryland and she was a teacher of Home Economics at Northeastern Parkway Junior High School and Morgan State University. She also taught Food Service and Hotel & Restaurant Management at Essex Community College. She became a Professor at the University of Maryland, where she wrote curriculum for Vocation Education. Valaire loved helping people, cooking, sewing and crafts of all kind. She was a Girl Scout leader, member of the Glen Burnie Church of Christ where she was a devoted Sunday School teacher and member of the Northeastern Christian Women's Auxiliary. Surviving are children William Brosey and wife Jamie of Knoxville, TN, Winifred Sylvester of Finksburg, James Brosey and wife Patricia of Leesburg, VA, Daniel Brosey and wife Terri of Finksburg, Steven Brosey and wife Elizabeth of Severn, Nancy Katunick and husband Michael of Finksburg; 24 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 niece and 1 nephew. She was predeceased by her sister, Annabelle Lee. Due to health concerns during the pandemic, services and interment will be private for the family only. Services will be Livestreamed from Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel on Monday, February 1, 2021 at 2:00pm.
