Phyllis Black Obituary

Phyllis Ann Black, 77, of Campbellsville departed this life on Monday, March 14, 2022 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville.
A native of Casey County, she was born on Aug. 1, 1944 to the late Chester and Retha Sweeden Atwood. Phyllis had professed her faith in Jesus Christ and was a member of Campbellsville Baptist Temple. She worked as a preschool teacher at Highview Baptist in Louisville, service desk manager at K-Mart, and at Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville. Phyllis was a wonderful cook, loved her family and friends dearly, and especially loved taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren the most.
Phyllis was married to Jerry Black on Sept. 18, 1965, who survives. Other survivors include a son, Brian Black and his wife, Marsha, of Campbellsville; three grandchildren, Chris Black and his wife, Sarah, of Campbellsville, Shawn Black, and Joel Nault, of Louisville, and Grace Black of Campbellsville; two great-grandchildren, Karson and Kylie Black; two sisters, Hazel Scrozinski, and her husband, Tom, of Liberty, and Ruby Cox, and her husband, Mac, of Elkhorn; two brothers, Shearl Atwood, and Don Atwood, and his wife, Brenda, both of Liberty; a special niece, Donna Carman, of Liberty; and many other nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
Besides her parents, Phyllis is preceded in death by three brothers, Earl, H. Dee and Marvin Atwood; and two sisters, Dorothy Allen and Helen Allen Clark.
Funeral services were held Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Auberry Funeral Home in Campbellsville with Bro. Jase Divens and Bro. Tim Anderson officiating. Burial was at Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Phyllis' nephews, Marty, Monty, Brent and Scott Atwood, Eddie Allen, and Victor Black.
