Brian Snyders Obituary

Brian D. Snyders, 65

Brian Donald Snyders of Rathdrum, Idaho, beloved father, grandfather and husband, entered into the arms of his Savior on April 28, 2025. Born January 16, 1960 in Boise, Idaho to Donald and Helen 'LaVonne' Snyders, the youngest of four children, Brian was raised in and resided in Boise until leaving at the age of 34 to pursue higher education. After graduating from Boise High School, he married Janelle Day in 1980 to whom was born Katie Shirlene in 1981. Later divorcing, he became a devoted single father for several years before marrying, Maren Burgemeister in 1989, his wife whom he loved deeply until his death. They were beyond blessed with four children: Andrew, Madeline, Luke and Emmett. Following high school, Brian entered a roofing apprentice program and worked as a journeyman roofer for several years. In his spare time, he worked as a volunteer rural EMT that ignited his love for medicine, which culminated as a senior field supervisor for Ada County Paramedics. At the age of 34, he started his BS at Idaho State University ultimately graduating from Des Moines University as a physician. In 2007, he began ownership and operation of Prairie Family Medicine in Coeur d'Alene, a medical practice that allowed him the joy of caring for patients of all ages, but especially pediatrics, kids with cancer and the disabled. In 2023, he opened a new clinic, Hemisphere Health, where he worked until his death. Brian had multiple gifts that he freely shared with others: an inventive mind that could propose a solution to most any problem, intuitive diagnostic skills, a caring heart that went the extra mile for thousands of patients, and an endless amount of hard work and pride for his family. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, with his faith in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior being among his greatest blessings in this life.

He is preceded in death by their precious son, Emmett Paul Snyders; his parents; and brother-in-law, Ed Smith. He is survived by his wife, Maren; daughter, Katie (Troy) Monroe; son, Andrew (Marie) Snyders; daughter, Madeline (Riley) Stewart; son, Luke Snyders; grandchildren: Cory and Gwendolyn Moore, and Sonny Stewart (arriving soon); siblings, Pam (Calvin) Barnhill, Sandy Smith, and Larry (Debra Robinson) Snyders and in-laws, Tony and Juanita Burgemeister.

He was laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery (Coeur d'Alene) at a private graveside service. In lieu of flowers, a suggested donation to the Emmett Paul Snyders Foundation (909 W. Canfield Ave, Coeur d'Alene, ID 83815) would be honored by the family, allowing support to families with children fighting cancer.

Brian and the Snyder family hold a special place in my heart. Brian and his wife Maren brought medical teams to Uganda and impacted the lives of thousands. But even more importantly they hosted our daughter Rebecca for her first two years of education in the States. They made Rebecca part of their family for those years for which I am grateful. My prayers are with and for the family Brian has left behind.

This is truly a shock. I worked for Dr Snyders when I first moved to CDA. It was a great experience working for him. He was always positive, energetic and caring. My deepest condolences to Marin and his family. Dr. Snyders touched many lives and we are all better for it. Too young to leave this world, but as always God has another job for him in heaven. See you later

Dr. Snyders was so goofy I was not sure of him when we first met. But in no time at all he was helping me find relief where I had struggled. One time he even had me come in without an appointment simply because I was in so much need. I don't know any doctors who do that anymore. He was brilliant and funny and made getting shots I needed less scary. I will miss him terribly.

I am shocked! I am completely blindsided! I can still hear his kind voice, giving me a hard time or telling me a cool story about his past, talking about his struggles with the same illness I have, which made me feel not so alone at all. I felt safe and understood under his care because he too understood the dark side of my new illness, and I felt like God dropped this guy in front of me by angels because what other doctor in the world knows exactly what their patients are going through?? He reminded me of my Dad, heart of gold, sincere thoughtfulness for everyone, and someone who would walk a mile to help. The world lost one of God's soldiers today but may he be at peace, shining down more light upon us from the heavens. I barely knew him but I felt as though I had known him forever. Prayers to his family, you are all wonderful people

I was so shocked to hear of his passing. I started taking my son to him about 8 years ago. He was like a breath of fresh air when no one else would listen to me about my concerns. He truly was a godsend.

My heart goes out to you, Maren, along with your kids and family. It was such an honor meeting and knowing you guys and Dr. Snyders.

Dr Snyders was the light in the darkness when I was referred to him. Being heard by your dr. and concerns validated. He was a gift in my life being changed for such a short time but I received such a great blessing. My heart hurts for his family and all those he touched. May God keep you close during this difficult time.

We are beside ourselves with disbelief. As a patient of Brians for more than 15 years he was the most attentive and compassionate physician we have known. We most always got in trouble with his nurses because we often sat in the patient room and talked about everything except why I was there to begin with. Another funny memory is one time I asked him "what kind of doctor are you." The look on his face was so funny as I think he took it as an affront. I quickly said no, no doc. Are you an Dr. of internal medicine or an osteopathic Dr? We both laughed hard. Beyond doubt he is having fun playing with his son Emmett again. Gosh he missed that boy and spoke about him just about every time I saw him. You will be missed. God bless doc.

I was deeply saddened by Dr. Snyders' passing, as I am sure many have been. He was a cherished, compassionate provider who really cared for his patients. The legacy he leaves behind is huge and will also leave a big void. To the family, I am so sorry for your loss and pray you find comfort in God's peace at this time. I know the days and hours and months and even years ahead will be different and I am so sorry. Words simply can't express the depth of sorrow I am sure each of you feel in his passing. I am continuing to pray for each of you. Sending love, deepest sympathies and prayers to each of you. -Jacci

Dr. Snyder was one of those rare doctors who actually seemed interested and caring about his patients. I've worked as an RN, and also been a patient of many a doctor, and he was probably my favorite ever. I'm so glad to know he believed as I that Jesus is the path to Heaven. I wish the Snyders family peace and less pain as time passes and wonderful memories take hold.

Dr. Snyders was referred by our dedicated and honored Dr. Stanek who retired after years of treating my husband after a stroke day after Easter in Kirkland 2012 . His expertise and caring manner was cherished along with his entire professional crew . The void left in our hearts is unbelievable. May the Angels in heaven grace his presence Vicki and Deral Green

I guess we never know, when He wants us by His side. It is up to us to make the best of what has been given to us, in this life. Doctor Snyders certainly did more than most. He is a fine, remarkable man and was a unique healer in medicine. We will all miss him so much but am also thankful, that he is with our Savior and is in all of God's glory. Feel only peace and love !!!

I was deeply saddened to hear of his passing. He has been my all-time favorite provider and he already is deeply missed by the many lives he touched. Praying for the family at this time as they grieve a great loss. Sending love and deepest sympathies to each of you. I cannot imagine the depth of loss felt. Praying you know he is watching over you and keeping it warm. Take even the smallest comfort in knowing "to be absent with the body is to be present with the Lord." Love and prayers in the days and weeks ahead as you navigate many decisions and life without him. I am so so sorry. - Love, a grieving patient
