David Jones Obituary

David Eugene Jones, 82

David Eugene Jones of Dalton Gardens, Idaho passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 24, 2023. He was a well-respected, caring and loving man who many people looked up to. He was born in Brule County, South Dakota on October 16, 1941. He served in the United States Marine Corps for four years. After an honorable discharge, he received his degree in Criminal Justice at Mira Costa College in Oceanside, California. This is where he proudly served as a police officer for the Oceanside Police Department for eight years, with his beloved partner and police K-9, King. David was very instrumental in developing the K-9 program for Oceanside Police Department. He worked a variety of positions including Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, K-9 Patrol Officer, Senior Patrol Officer, Jailer, Civil and Warrants Deputy. He accepted a position as a Deputy Sherriff with Kootenai County Sheriff's Department in October 1978, where he proudly served until he retired.

On May 6, 1972, David married the absolute love if his life, Becky. They later moved from Oceanside to Dalton Gardens, Idaho, where they lived out the remainder of their lives together with their children.

David was an avid bowler, hunter and fisherman, enjoying numerous outings with his friends and family. He cherished his time spent with his wife, and especially the time they spent with their granddaughter, Tera. David was Tera's father figure and raised her with his utmost love and respect, shaping who she is today. This is something she is, and will forever be thankful for.

He is preceded in death by his father, Albert Jones; his mother, Fern Jensen Seiger; siblings: Richard, Dallas, Melvin Jones, and Beverly Stroud. David is lovingly survived by his wife, Becky Jones of over 51 years; children: Becky (Kevin) Rogers, Fern Jones, Lorn Jones, and Yolanda Jones; grandchildren: Tera (Nikolas) Young, Juan, Miguel, and Rodrigo Delgado, Jr.; special niece, Tina Bohannon; special nephew, Troy Jones, as well as numerous other family members.

His love, leadership and example of integrity and honor will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He will be our family's hero and king for the rest of eternity. Rest in peace.

The Loss of a Father

Is the anchor pulled from the seabed, the steering wheel unhinged, the mast split by lightning, and the bow broken by storm.

The ship that you sailed, until now, feels unsafe, no longer weather proof, and without direction, or brave heart, to speed its way.

Perhaps you did not even know, that he was your compass that you gazed upon his lead, like a North Star in the night.

He gave you all of this you see, without notice or congratulation, diligently, consistently, continuously guiding, always showing the way, in the way he knew how.

And whilst you are a cast adrift, I know this to be true, you will anchor yourself once more my friend, when you realize, that his voice still speaks, still guides, still brings brave heart your way, in the roughest of storms.

And the answers you seek, he already planted deep within your heart, for he knew one day you would need to sail alone.

So he buried little pieces of himself within your heart, your mind, your spirit, and your soul.

Little breadcrumbs of love to show the way forevermore.
