Frederick "Fred" Spence, 85

Frederick "Fred" Oris Spence, age 85, passed away peacefully in his home on July 4, 2025. Fred was born in Mankato, MN to Ray and Colletta Spence. Fred eventually moved to Freemont, California where he worked as an operator/ mechanic.



Fred met the love of his life, Machelle Joanne "Jo" (nee Anglin) Spence and they were married in California. They were blessed with one daughter, Patricia, and later moved to Rathdrum, Idaho. Fred was a kindhearted, gentle, quiet man who loved his family and fixing things. He spent his working career as a mechanic before retiring from the forklift industry, and then attending to his family. He was a wonderful man who loved God, enjoyed nature, and always enjoyed a good laugh. Fred will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him.



Fred is preceded in death by his wife Jo, daughter Patricia Benson (nee Spence), his parents, and siblings Joan, Raymond, and David. He is survived by siblings Stevan Spence, Genevieve Spence, and Elizabeth Ferrell, sisters- and brother-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service will be held at Pinegrove Cemetery in Rathdrum, Idaho on Wednesday, July 16th at 2:00PM.
