Harold Monzingo Obituary

Lt. Col. Harold "Hal" L. Monzingo, 89

Harold (Hal) Monzingo passed away on January 31, 2025. Hal was born in Canon City, Colorado on September 12, 1935. He was the son of Paul F. and Elsie (Bullock) Monzingo. He spent his early years on a ranch near Harrison, Idaho attending both elementary and high school at the Harrison school. After graduating, he attended Eastern Washington University earning a bachelor degree in Education and a commission as a 2 LT in the US Army. On Veterans Day, 1963, he married Karin Skirka and they lived in various states and Germany while he pursued his military career. After completing his service in 1979, the family moved to Coeur d'Alene, where he became a realtor with Windermere, CDA Realty.

Harold is survived by his wife, Karin; stepdaughter, Sonja and her husband, Frank Harwood; daughter, Angela and her husband, Brandon Burgin; granddaughter, Bailey and her husband, Hunter Cayton; great-grandchildren, Karsyn, Wilder, and Stetson Cayton; granddaughter, Kimber and her husband, Zion Evans.

No services will be held at his request. Cremation to follow and his ashes dispersed along the Pacific near Long Beach, Washington. Yates Funeral Home was entrusted with final arrangements. Please visit Hal's online memorial and sign his guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com
