Ivan Bishop Obituary

Ivan Bishop, 82

Ivan Leroy Bishop , 82, of Hayden, Idaho, passed away at home on June 12, 2025, after a long illness.

Ivan was born on March 4, 1943 to Mary Beers and Rusty Bishop in Santa Cruz, CA. After Ivan graduated from high school in 1961, he went on to join the Marine Corps.

While in the Marine Corps, he fought for our country in Vietnam, was eventually stationed at Camp Pendleton and retired as a First Sergeant after 20 years.

In 1966, Ivan met his bride, Julie Tenorio, while he was visiting her brother, Carlos, who he had served with in Vietnam. Ivan and Julie were married later that year in Fullerton, CA, and went on to have two children, Edward Bishop and Dawnn (Bishop) Brown.

Ivan moved his family to North Idaho in 1980 where he joined the Sears department store and also became a member of the Pappy Boyington Marine Corps League. His time with the Marine Corps League was very special to him and he spent several years helping with Toys for Tots.

After 20 years with Sears, Ivan retired and treasured spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed getting together once a month with several of his coworkers from Sears.

Ivan was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Rusty and stepfather Robert. He is survived by his wife Julie; his son, Edward, his wife Wendy and their two children, Jacob and Sophia; his daughter, Dawnn, her husband Robert and their two children Hailee and Jordan, and three great grandchildren. Ivan will be greatly missed by his many nieces and nephews and numerous close friends!

Services will be held at the English Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Toys for Tots, an organization Ivan felt strongly about.
