Regine Hensel Obituary

Regine J. Hensel, 67

Regine J. Hensel, 67, our beloved mother, wife, grandmother, and sister passed away on Monday, August 4, 2025 after a two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband, Michael of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; her son, Maximilian and daughter-in-law, Kelsi and granddaughter, Eva Faith of Athol, Idaho; son, Matthew and daughter-in-law, Madeline and granddaughter, Elowyn Hensel of Mesa, Arizona; and her brother, Martin Bartel of Stuttgart, Germany.

She was born on February 22, 1958 in Stuttgart, Germany, the daughter of Wilhelm and Else (Braeuninger) Bartel.

Regine was retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, Fort Indiantown Gap, Annville, Pennsylvania. After retirement, she and Michael moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho in 2021. She felt truly blessed to be living in this beautiful area where she enjoyed hiking, biking, and camping. She quickly made many friends and treasured her friendships with all.

Regine was a former member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Lebanon, Pennsylvania and is a current member of Lutheran Church of the Master in Coeur d'Alene. Her faith and life's mantra comes from John 13:34 – that we are to love one another. A memorial service will be held at the LCM at a future date.

Yates Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Please visit Regine's online memorial and sign her guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com

My dear sweet friend, I will miss our exchanges on politics, family, and church. I see you sitting on the sofa in my living room and telling me about your trip to Washington DC to join the march with the ladies in pink hats, telling me about where you and Michael have decided to move to Idaho, telling me how you have listed your home to sell. You were so proud of your son becoming a nurse, how they lived with you until their own house was built, how thrilled you were when Eva was born. A little girl to buy girly things for. You would share pictures of her with me. You always commented on my spelling and punctuation in the daily prayers I sent. I miss you, my dear friend but you are forever imprinted on my heart!

For 30 years we've laughed, cried, plotted and schemed. The boys we stressed over, who tested our patience, who we knew would live in the basement forever, grew into amazing, respectful, successful men. It was my honor to share all of life's challenges and happiness with you. Rest easy my friend! I love & miss you. Jan
