Originally from the Lakeside area in Hanford, California and was the youngest son of Iola and Ernest Sargent.

He grew up on a farm and loved the outdoors. He loved to travel, fish, play golf and spending time with family. He was always outgoing and friendly and never met a stranger. He worked for a small oil company originally known as Beacon Oil Company, later sold to Valero.

He retired in 1997 after 38 years. After retirement, he and his wife did a lot of RV traveling and in 2004, he and his wife decided to move to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He loved it. People were friendly and he made a lot of friends. Shortly after moving to Coeur d'Alene, he joined the local Elks and their RV group. Had lots of fun on the outings. Later, he joined the Eagles and got together with a golfing group of guys.

He leaves his wife of 45 years, Eva; three sons, Michael Sargent and wife, Joni; Steven Sargent and wife, Katrina; Jamie Silveira and wife, Nicki; two daughters, Debbie Hiatt and husband, Eric; Shannon Silveira; he also leaves behind his brother, Douglas Sargent and wife, Pat; two sisters, Sharon Junell and husband, Toby; Sandy Pease and husband, AL; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a great guy and loved his family and friends deeply.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at the Elks Lodge, 1170 W. Prairie Ave., Coeur d'Alene, Idaho 83815.
