Ronald Miller Obituary

Ronald "Ron" Eugene Miller, 82

Ronald "Ron" Eugene Miller, 82, of Rathdrum, Idaho, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2025.

Ron was born on January 14, 1943, in Takoma Park, Maryland, to Harold and Ruby Miller. In 1960, he proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, serving his country for four years.

Following his military service, Ron set out on an adventure that took him from Maryland to Montana, where he made his home in Shelby for close to 30 years. It was there he met the love of his life, Barbara Neely, with whom he shared 48 wonderful years of marriage until her passing in 2020.

Ron dedicated 29 years to the Shelby Promoter printing everything from A to Z, including newspapers, envelopes, letterheads, and auction flyers. He served his community as a volunteer on the local ambulance team. In 1999, he moved to Havre, Montana, where he worked at the Havre Daily News for another 10 years. He later relocated to Rathdrum, Idaho in 2011.

In 2021, Ron proudly celebrated 40 years of sobriety-a milestone that was deeply meaningful to him.

Ron loved the outdoors and spent countless hours hunting, fishing, and camping. He cherished time with his family, enjoyed playing card games, and was a fan of country music, especially artists like Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, and Johnny Horton. He never missed a chance to watch his beloved Washington Redskins/Commanders. He especially looked forward to wintering in Florida, where he enjoyed fishing and attending outdoor concerts with friends and family.

Ron was known for his quick wit, sharp math skills, funny sense of humor and amazing milkshakes, qualities that made him unforgettable to all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold "Pop" and Ruby Miller, and wife Barbara Miller.

He is survived by his children: Sheryl Faddis, Candy Vanblaricom, Greg (Joni) Miller, Ronald II (Lisa) Miller, Brian (Kasi) Miller; siblings: Frank (Diana) Miller, Harold (Gracie) Miller, and Ted (Brenda) Miller; grandchildren: Brandon Mallo, Tabetha Dashofy, Alycia Cotton, Blair Hanson, Brent Hanson, Brandi Carpenter, Ronnie Miller III, Becca Miller, Garrett Miller, Hannah Miller, Payton Miller, and Bennett Miller; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Yates Funeral Home – Hayden Chapel, 373 E. Hayden Ave, Hayden, Idaho. Family and friends are invited to gather for refreshments and fellowship immediately following the service. Please visit Ron's online guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com
