Burnetta Richardson Obituary

Burnetta Marie Richardson, age 56 of Colora, MD passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 30, 2025. She was born on April 17, 1969 in Havre de Grace, MD to William Danny Blackburn and the late Lilly Jane (Belcher) Blackburn.

Burnetta was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She loved her children dearly and absolutely adored her grandbabies. When her children were younger, she could always be found in the stands at their baseball games cheering louder than anyone.

Burnetta had a deep love of nature and being outside soaking up the sun. She found peace in her backyard "oasis" laying by her pool and watching the hummingbirds and butterflies. She enjoyed looking for and watching dolphins anytime she was by the ocean. Burnetta enjoyed tending to her flowers and even found joy in mowing her lawn. She loved her dogs, her brother David, and quiet moments filled with laughter over games like Words With Friends, which she always said kept her mind sharp.

Burnetta had a gift for making everyone feel like family. She was a second mom to all of her children's friends, always opening her heart and home to anyone who needed it. She also gave so much of herself to her community. For over 20 years, she proudly served as a Board Member and Coach for the Rising Sun Little League, where she inspired countless kids and families.

She will be remembered for her big heart, sense of humor, and the way she always put others first. Burnetta was supportive, selfless, and full of love, someone who left every person she met feeling cared for.

Burnetta is survived by her husband of 28 years, Mike Richardson; children: Aaron Richardson (Nichole), Daniel Richardson (Mollie), Justin Brooks, Michael Richardson, and Carah Richardson; father, Danny Blackburn; brother, David Blackburn; and her three cherished grandchildren: Delaney, Tatum, and Rhett. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lilly Jane (Belcher) Blackburn.

A celebration of Burnetta's life will be held on Monday, October 6, 2025 at 6PM at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 111 S. Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911. Family and friends may attend the visitation beginning at 5PM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to "American Cancer Society" and sent in care of the funeral home: P.O. Box 248, Rising Sun, MD 21911.
