Charles Saxton Obituary

Charles "Chappy" P. Saxton, Jr., age 54, of Elkton, MD, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Sunday, December 29, 2019. He was born in Wilmington, DE on May 6, 1965 to Charles P. and Patricia A. Saxton.

In addition to his parents, Chappy is survived by his son, Chad A. Saxton of Newark, DE; two daughters: Amanda N. Conte of Wilmington, DE and Abigail E. Saxton of Chesapeake City, MD; two grandchildren: Dominic Conte and Joanna Conte; sister, Renee and brother-in-law Robert Forgue of Pike Creek, DE. Chappy was preceded in death by his beloved brother Andrew "Andy" D. Saxton and niece Samantha Forgue.

Chappy was a graduate of Glasgow High School class of 1983. He was an electrician and entrepreneur who owned Compass Electric. Chappy was an avid hunter and fisherman in his home states of Maryland and Delaware. He was formerly an active member of the New Castle County Chapter of Ducks Unlimited. Chappy enjoyed hand crafting and painting his own hunting decoys.

Chappy loved spending time with family and friends and never met a stranger. He could talk (and talk) to anyone, anywhere. Chappy will be greatly missed by all of those who had the joy of meeting him.

Greetings to the Family and Friends of Chappy Saxton,
We did not know Chappy personally, but we have been searching for him for many years. In 2004, kayaking along the shore after a storm, we found a decoy on the western bank of the Northeast River, about a mile south of the town of North East, MD. The decoy has Chappy's name written on the bottom, along with Christmas 1999. The decoy has since made its way north to New York State, near Albany. We only recently learned that Chappy has passed away, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. If anyone should recognize the decoy, or has some information about it, please let us know ([email protected]) and perhaps the decoy will be able to continue its journey home.
Peace,
Jan and Joe Juras,
Niskayuna, NY

Of the many people I recall from high school, few stand out with such warmth, kindness, and genuine love of people as Chappy. Always smiling, always with a friendly wave or nod, he made people feel special and that they mattered. We could all take a lesson from Chappy and remember to be kind, to take time for others and to live life with gusto and joy. May the Saxton family feel the love and prayers of everyone and may Chappy rest in glory and peace.

Chappy, you were a dear lifelong friend. We grew up together and spent much time fishing, hunting and hanging out, I remember you actually picked out my very first freshwater fishing rod! Hope heaven is full of big bucks and tons of ducks! Will miss you always. My thoughts go out to Mr and Mrs Saxton, Chad, Amanda, Renee and all your family. Love you brother, rest in peace my friend.

Chappy you were a true bright light in this world... there are not many people in life you meet who make such a positive lasting impression of real friendship. You were the person in high school who I am sure all remember, as I do, as such a positive, friendly and truly great person with such a really good heart. We are all better to have had you in our lives even if it was for a short time. I am so sad to hear this news as you are so young ...Though you have moved on, we now have a great angel to watch over us though you will be deeply missed here on this earth.

My thoughts and heartfelt prayers to your family at this difficult time. It is those who have such a good impression on us as they pass though our lives we miss the most. You will be deeply missed.

Though difficult, I think I and those who had the opportunity to know you even if for a short time are better people because of the positive influence you made to our lives at a given period in time as those who knew you can attest to how you were such a good, positive and very unique spirit ....... who I believe will continue to watch over us.

Thank you for your positive influence, great fun memories I will keep in my heart, rest in peace my friend!! Love, Sigrun (-;
