James Smith Obituary

James "Jim" Smith, 69, passed away peacefully at his home in North East, Maryland on August 31, 2025. Born on August 25, 1956 in Wilmington, Delaware, Jim lived a lifemarked by dedication to his family and a deep appreciation for the outdoors.

Jim spent much of his career at Chrysler where he was recognized for his strong mechanical skills. His talent for working with his hands extended far beyond the workplace- he took pride in building, fixing, and creating in all aspects of life.

An avid outdoorsman, Jim had a passion for motorcycles, hunting, and crabbing. He embraced the freedom of the open road and the quiet solitude of time spent outdoors and on the water. These pursuits reflected his connection to the world and his desire to stay active and engaged.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Valerie Smith; daughters: Carolyn Nicholson, Heidi Smith, Sarah McDaniel, Molly Barlow, and Ellie Smith; son, Michael Smith; twelve grandchildren; sisters: Diane Smith, Nancy Savory, Karen Antes, and brother, Thomas Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and AlleenSmith.

Jim will be remembered by those who knew him for his devotion to family and his enduring bond with the natural world. May his memory bring comfort to all who held him dear.
