John Mackie Obituary
A proud U.S. Army National Guard veteran, John served honorably for 6 years. After his military service, he pursued a successful career in real estate, eventually retiring after many years of helping countless individuals and families find their homes. John was deeply involved in his community, active in Elkton Little League and engaged in local politics. He was known for staying well-informed on current world events and always welcomed thoughtful conversation. His commitment to service, both civic and personal, left a lasting impact on those around him.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Betty Ann Dvorak Mackie; children, Scott Mackie (Kate), and Todd Mackie (Kerry), both of Elkton, MD; grandchildren, Jordan Mackie McCullar, Davidson, NC, Logan Mackie, Ella Mackie, and Paige Mackie, all of Elkton, MD; step grandchildren, McKenzie Steagall, Raleigh, NC, Abigal Reinhold, Nashville, TN, and Will Reinhold, Philadelphia, PA; great-grandsons, Mason McCullar and Noah McCullar; and his sister, Janee Mackie Larson, Wilmington, DE.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Greg Larson.
Funeral service will be held 11 AM, Friday, June 27, 2025 at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD 21921, with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Interment will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Cherry Hill, MD.
