Shirley Laird Obituary

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Shirley Jean Laird.

Shirley was the beloved wife to her late husband George H. Laird for 67 years.

Along with raising her own large family of six sons and one daughter, Shirley was also a childcare provider for grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many other children around the community for many, many years. In her later years, Shirley worked for Union Hospital as a Nursing Assistant, of which she truly loved doing both.

Shirley was a very kind-hearted individual, and would give you her last dollar if you needed it. She would always give to others before taking for herself. Shirley had many activities over the years, was an excellent cook, and enjoyed baking. She was well known for her famous homemade cinnamon buns.

She would bake all night to fulfill orders she had taken for the holidays. She was a caring and loving mother, grandmother, and friend to all.

Shirley is survived by her children, Robert Stephen Laird (Barbara), Terry Gene Laird (Teresa), Vicki Laird Warfield (Bobby), Michael Glenn Laird (Donna). She is also survived by 12 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren, and 4 Great Great Grandchildren.

Shirley was pre-deceased by her husband George H. Laird, and sons, Larry Alan Laird, Rickey Wayne Laird, and Kenneth Wade Laird.

There will be no Service for Shirley, as she has graciously donated her body to Science.

The family would like to specially thank the nurses and staff at Autumn Lake Nursing Home and Amedysis Hospice Nursing Home Care (especially Michelle and Anna). Also, a special thank you to Donna Warfield for spending time and sitting with Mom every chance she could. You were all very special to her.

Shirley will dearly be missed by her family and all who knew her. RIP, Mom.
