Emma M. Phelps

1919 - 2017

Emma M. Phelps, age 98, of Mineral, Virginia, and formerly of Conneaut Lake, Pennsylvania and Wibraham, Massachusetts, passed away on December 11, 2017, in Louisa, Virginia.
She was born July 11, 1919, in Brownsville, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Stephan Fejes and Mary Lengyel Fejes. She married Frederick G. Phelps on July 10, 1943. He preceded her in death on August 25, 2000.
Emma worked during World War II as a "Rosie the Riveter" at Talon in Meadville. She was an avid gardener, fisherman and knitter and loved to read.
She is survived by a son, Steven LeRoy Phelps and his wife, Julie, Mineral, Virginia; three grandchildrenc Cynthia Phelps of St. Agustine, Florida, Pamela Phelps of Washington, DC and Charles (Chad) Phelps of North Ferrisburgh, Vermont; a sister, Evelyn Hall of Hadley, Pennsylvania; her daughter-in-law, Linda Phelps of Winter Park, Florida.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Emma was preceded in death by a son, Frederick George Phelps, in August 2001; two brothers, William Fejes, Johnny Fejes; and a sister, Jennie Toth.
Services will be private.
Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Meadville.
