Iris Faye Shelton

September 12, 1933 - February 21, 2026

Iris Faye Shelton joined her loving husband in Heaven on February 21, 2026. She is preceded in death by her father, James Corker and mother, Mary Sue; her husband of 72 years, Eugene "Gene" Shelton; and brothers, James Corker Jr. and Carroll Corker. Faye is survived by her beloved daughter, Iris Jean Deffely (Paul); and younger sister, Patsy Hicks (Florida). Faye was born September 12, 1933, in Mineral, Virginia. At five years old, she suffered a stroke. She not only survived but defied the odds doctors had predicted. Faye went on to thrive throughout her lifetime. She met and married the love of her life, Gene. They married on February 20, 1954, built a home in Glen Allen and raised their daughter. Faye was more than just a doting wife and loving mother; she was a good friend that everyone could depend on. She was always at the ready with a smile, a card and a pan of hot rolls. Faye and Gene went on to own an antique shop at the Wigwam in Hanover County. They loved antique auctions and just being together. Not only was she a talented musician, teaching piano lessons, she also enjoyed gardening, ceramics, quilting and sewing, including wedding dresses. The family wishes to thank the staff at Hanover Manor and Serenity First Hospice for their wonderful care.

A celebration of life will be held on April 15, 2026, from 2 to 5 p.m., at Bliley's Funeral Home on Staples Mill Road, with a special time at 3 p.m. to share special memories about Faye. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to a school or church music program or charity of your choice.
