James Booker

1955 - 2026

Jim - a man of profound faith in his Lord - died in peace, in full trust of his resurrection. Melanoma claimed our beloved brother and brother in Christ - though little was known of his suffering by his acceptance through it all. Jim was known for his gentle humor and serenity - as well as for his strong convictions and legendary stubbornness. A lifelong Richmond resident, his longtime in-home care for his late mother, Anita Booker, will long be remembered. Jim is preceded in death by his mother and his father, Wallace Booker, and is survived by his brothers Thomas of Lexington, KY and Rev. Charles (Rosa Melara) of Silver Spring MD, as well as his aunt Kay Herring of Lakewood, CO and nephew Andrew Booker (Samantha Jacobson) of Milwaukee, WI. The family is deeply grateful for the support Jim's friends in the faith John McChesney and Mark Goodwin provided for him in his final months and beyond. A Service of Witness to Jim's Resurrection will be held Monday, March 23 at 11:00 am at Pentecostals of Richmond, 2200 Pickens Road, Richmond VA 23224.
