R. Mader Obituary

R. Paul Mader fought the good fight! Born on April 8, 1933, he passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord on March 11, 2018, surrounded by family.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he moved to Virginia in the 60s, and lived in Vienna for many years. He enjoyed the last 20 years at Lake Anna and had just moved to Elizabeth City, North Carolina last month.
Paul worked as an electrical engineer, and in retirement enjoyed fishing and boating on the lake. He was an active member of St. Jude Catholic Church, and coordinated the Saturday night ushers for many years before Parkinson's disease gave him a punch.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Maria; children, Linda McGraw (Jim), Denise Haun (Rick), and son, Regis. He was so proud of his nine grandsons and two granddaughters, and watched as they each built their families and brought more members into the family, including 17 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by a beloved sister, Geraldine Josefowicz, and much loved brother, George Mader (Margie). Also, his favorite and only brother-in-law, Lee Herbermann (Judy), along with many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all who loved his quiet and faithful spirit.
A memorial service will be held April 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church in Mineral, Virginia, followed by burial in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made on Paul's behalf to Parkinson's Research at UVA Nephrology, Attn: Susan Dietrich, P.O. Box 801018, Charlottesville, VA, 22908.
