Marilyn Kramer - Haugh
August 12, 1933 - June 23, 2025
State College, Pennsylvania - Marilyn S. Kramer-Haugh, 91, of State College, passed away on Monday, June 23, 2025, at Celebration Villa of Nittany Valley. Born on August 12, 1933, in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Warren W. and Mildred (Bailey) Schadt. On December 26, 1958, she married Kenneth C. Kramer, who preceded her in death on June 18, 1987. On October 30, 1993, she was remarried to her husband, Hubert H. Haugh, who preceded her in death on November 1, 2007.
Marilyn was a 1951 graduate of Allentown High School, Allentown, PA. She went on to earn her BA in Liberal Arts from Penn State University in 1955, and her MS in Education from Michigan State University in 1957. Marilyn was an instructor at Penn State University from 1958 to 1968 in the Art Education Department, Alpha Gamma Delta Chapter President 1961 and Vice President 1963. She was an official Art Committee member for The Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts for many years, a charter member of the Art Alliance of Central PA, and the Museum for Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C., a member of Delta Kappa Gamma International Honor Society for Women Educators, Pennsylvania State Education Association, and National Defense Committee Chair for the Daughters of the American Revolution, Bellefonte Chapter for over 10 years. She worked as an art history teacher at Bald Eagle Area Jr. Sr. High School for 25 years until her retirement in 1997.
Marilyn is a life member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. She also belonged the United Women in Faith in the Mary and Martha Women's Circle. For over 40 years, Marilyn was an enthusiastic member of The University Club, a local nonprofit that has promoted town-gown sociality and its historic cultural legacy since 1908. She and Hubie were dedicated members and held leadership roles at the Club. They and their family enjoyed many activities at the Club including bridge parties and Fireside Chats. Marilyn launched the Oral History Interviews for the University Club Heritage Project. This year, she was recognized as the first Distinguished Lifetime Member.
She loved Penn State sports. She was a football season ticket holder for over 70 years and looked forward to attending all the home games. She also enjoyed basketball and volleyball. She was a loyal follower of The Little German Band and The Bavarian Stompers especially while Hubie played the tuba.
Marilyn was full of pride when her late husband donated the marvelous gift of open space of 465 acres to the Patton Township Open Space Trust which included one of their most cherished walking areas, 10 Acre Pond. The Haugh Family farmland along Circleville Road and in Scotia is now preserved for future generations as undeveloped property. Circleville Park is enjoyed by many locals and visitors to the area.
She is survived by her three daughters, Kim Kramer Martirano of San Diego, California, Karen Kramer of State College, and Kristina Kramer-Jury (Keith) of Howard, and four grandchildren, James Ensor, Jr. of Clearfield, and Shane Ensor (Megan) of Bellefonte, Zachary Martirano (Kaeley) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Gabriel Martirano of San Diego, California, and five great grandchildren, Kaiden and Elliott Ensor, and baby girl Ensor due in August. Peyton and Wyatt Martirano.
In addition to her first and second husbands and parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Geraldine Evans, and brother, Warren "Bill" Schadt.
Family and friends will be received on August 12th 2025, which would have been Marilyn's 92nd birthday, from 11:30 to 1 p.m., at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 250 E. College Avenue, State College. Celebration of Life services will begin at 1 p.m., at the church, with Pastor Greg Milinovich officiating. A burial at Pine Hall Cemetery will be held privately for family only immediately following the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
