Albert Foster Obituary

Albert Ardell "Ham" Foster
April 30, 1939 - November 3, 2022
State College, Pennsylvania - "Ham," also referred to as "Snark," by his family, Albert Ardell Foster, 83, died Thursday, November 3, 2022 in PA Furnace, after doing what he loved most, hunting.
Born April 30, 1939 in State College, he was the son of the late Albert L. and Helen R. (Zerby) Foster. He married Susan A. Stover on October 8, 1965, who survives at home.
Ham is also survived by his daughters Amy R. Foster (Stephen Meier) of Lititz and Tami C.F. McLaughlin (Andrew) of State College; four siblings Richard Foster of Tucson, AZ, Ray Foster (Susan) of Pine Grove Mills, Carol Keller (David) of PA Furnace, and his twin sister Alberta "Suz" Yeager (Grady) of Cape Coral, FL; six grandchildren, Brittany E. Velazquez (Alex) and Jourdan N. Hevener, both of Manheim, A. Tate, Jack F., Casher P., and Miley P. McLaughlin, all of State College; five great-grandchildren, Cole and Brody Velazquez, Wynne, Josie and Lincoln Hevener; along with countless adoring nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Ruth Musser (Ted) and Catherine Kocher (Chob).
Ham was a 1957 graduate of State College Area High School where he was an outstanding athlete, playing baseball and football. He attended The Pennsylvania State University on a baseball scholarship before enlisting in the United States Air Force; he honorably served on active duty as a Senior Airman. After over 30 years of employment with the United States Postal Service, he retired as the postmaster of Pine Grove Mills.
Ham was an avid outdoorsman, who loved fishing and hunting; he could be found at his beloved camp, "Jack's Place," where he would enjoy visiting with friends and family who stopped by. For many years, Ham played and umpired softball. He proudly earned his brown belt in Judo while in the military. He was a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, Dallas Cowboys and also enjoyed boxing. Ham loved his country and veterans, supporting the Wounded Warrior Project, Tunnels to Towers Foundation, as well as Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ham's name to any of the above charities.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no services offered; there will be a private family gathering at a later date.
Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College. Online condolences may be entered at www.kochfuneralhome.com or visit us on Facebook.
