Anna A. Smelik

Anna A. Smelik June 13, 1917 - September 21, 2009 Anna A. Smelik, 92, of Clarence, passed away at home on Monday, Sept. 21, 2009. She went to be with God and "Daddy". Born on June 13, 1917, in Clarence, she was the daughter of the late George and Dora Vilcek Panik. On Feb. 16, 1935, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Clarence, she married Steve J. Smelik who passed away on Dec. 12, 1995. Anna was a homemaker. She was a member of the Queen of Archangel Chapel in Snow Shoe. Anna is survived by her daughters, Margaret A. Besch, and her husband, John R., of Lewistown and Anna Mae Surovec, of Clarence. Also surviving are six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by eight brothers, two sisters, one son in law, Joseph R. Surovec, and one great-great grandchild, Matthew S. Heichel. Anna was the last of her generation. She enjoyed playing the lottery bingo, watching bowling and golf on TV, especially Tiger Woods, and reading her magazines. She loved to watch the wildlife outside her kitchen window, cook and bake for her family, spending time with her family and having quiet time to say the rosary. Friends will be received on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009 from 7-9 p.m. at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, 106 W. Sycamore St, Snow Shoe, with a rosary being said at 8:45 p.m. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Sept. 25, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Queen of Archangel Chapel in Snow Shoe with Father Lubomir Strecok officiating. Burial will be at St Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Snow Shoe. In lieu of flower, memorial contributions may be made to the Houtzdale Home Care, 120 Spring St./PO Box 176, Houtzdale, PA 16651.
