Basil Waite Obituary

Basil E. 'Pap' Waite November 7, 1918 - September 10, 2005 Basil E. "Pap" Waite, 86, of Pleasant Gap, died Saturday, Sept.10, 2005, at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College. He was born Nov. 7, 1918, in Spring Township, a son of the late Earl and Effie Baird Waite. In 1999, he married the former Bessie Shuey who survives at home. In 1952, he had married the former Bessie Gunsallus, who preceded him in death in 1986. He was employed by Clasters as a truck driver for many years, retiring in 1980. Mr. Waite was a member of God's Missionary Church in Bellefonte. Early in life he enjoyed hunting and especially enjoyed his model electric trains. In addition to his wife, two stepdaughters and two stepsons survive him from his first marriage, Pauline Wooll and Priscilla Waite, both of Pleasant Gap; and Daryl Solt, of rural Bellefonte, and Martin Solt, of Bellefonte. In addition, he is survived by four stepsons from his second marriage, Russell Lehman, of State College, Christopher Lehman, of Cassville, Timothy Baughman, of Bellefonte, and Jeffrey Shuey, of State College. He is also survived by two sisters, Emagene Gill, of Pleasant Gap, and Mary Ellen Waite, of Bellefonte; one brother, Ruben Waite of Pleasant Gap; 11 stepgrandchildren and many stepgreat- grandchildren. In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters and a stepgranddaughter. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, 2005, at the God's Missionary Church, 710 Pleasant View Blvd., Bellefonte. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005, at the church, with the Rev. Michael Hoskins and the Rev. Paul Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Gap Lutheran Cemetery, Pleasant Gap. In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be made to God's Missionary Church, in care of the Rev. Michael Hoskins, 724 Allegheny St., Bellefonte, PA 16823. A guest book can be signed and condolences sent to the family at www.heintzelmanfuneralhome.com.
