Carolyn McMath Obituary

Carolyn Faye McMath February 11, 1940 April 28, 2012 Carolyn Faye McMath, 72, of Zion, went to be in the arms of the angels on Saturday, April 28, 2012, at home surrounded by her loving family. Born on Feb. 11, 1940, in Lawndale, Calif., she was a daughter of the late Robert and Joy (Phillips) Watson, and step-daughter of the late Louis Galardi. Carolyn attended Perris High School, Perris, Calif. On Oct. 8, 1955, she married U.S. Marine Frank W. McMath, the love of her life. Frank survives at their home in Zion. Also surviving are eight children; Marcy Elliott (Lee), of Williamsport, Teresa Clymans (Henry), of Shirleysburg, Carolyn Harbaugh (Calvin), of Williamsport, Md., Polly McMath (Jo Ann Sweitzer), of Reedsville, Francine Scott (Darius), of Saltillo, Lisa McMath (Bill Tornatore), of Altoona, Amy Backenstoe, (Tom), of Zion, Frank McMath Il and his daughter, Tasia, of Zion. Carolyn is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Roberta Cooper, Juanita Devine, and Fern Harrison; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Carolyn was an operating room technician at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital and Centre Community Hospital where she retired after 25 years of service. Carolyn was a loving wife, devoted mother, sister and gram who lived to spend time with her family. She loved gardening, traveling, quilting, and her beloved cats: Cleo, Callie, and Harley. Movies, the theatre and dining out with her family were her favorite activities. Her passing has left a void in our hearts that will never be filled. A private Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Bellefonte, PA. Memorial contributions in Carolyn's memory can be made to the hospice of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service Inc., Bellefonte. I worked with Carol at Mount Nittany for quite awhile.She was a trusted surgical technician,and lots of fun to work with.She lived for her family,she will be greatly missed, but what a wonderful legacy she has left.
