Dennis Joseph Guth

Dennis Joseph Guth June 17, 1950January 28, 2012 Dennis Joseph Guth, 61 of State College died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born June 17, 1950, in Oil City, he was a son of Loren Guth, of Kittanning and the late Anna Mae Fletcher Guth. On June 18, 1977, he married the former Maureen Buban, who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Erica R. Guth, of Annapolis, Md., and Kelsey L. Guth, of State College; a son Christopher M. Guth, of Philadelphia; and his fianc? Claire Bramble; a sister Kathleen Guth, of Kittanning; and a brother Gary Guth, of Rochester, N.Y. Dennis was a devoted father and husband. He graduated from University of Pittsburgh in 1972 and received a masters degree in 1984 in labor relations from St. Francis University, Loretto. Since 1987 Dennis was employed by the State College Area School District as Director of Human Resources. He was a founding member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, and enjoyed weekends with his friends at his country cabin in Potter County, where he worked to perfect his landscape photography hobby. Dennis was a lifelong and passionate fan of State College Area High School, University of Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh professional sports. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, at the Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Grays Woods, with The Rev. Charles M. Amershek Jr. officiating. Burial will be in State College.
