Elizabeth Young Obituary

Elizabeth J. Young April 10, 1919 - June 6, 2010 Elizabeth J. "Libby" Young, 91, of Pleasant Gap, passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2010, at Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care Facility. Born on April 10, 1919, in North Bessemer, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Roy and Eva (Askey) Brobeck. On Feb. 17, 1940, in Burnham, she was married to Elwood D. Young, who preceded her in death on Oct. 5, 1989. From 1969 until her retirement in 1983, was employed in Food Services at Penn State University. She was a member of the Pleasant Gap United Methodist Church and also a member of the Jennie Florey Sunday School Class. She loved her church, enjoyed playing bingo, reading, and until recently, taking bus trips. Libby was a good mother and grandmother and will be missed by family, friends, and neighbors. She is survived by three daughters, Eva Roe (Charles), of Bath, Joyce Wheatley (Daniel), of Crofton, Md., and Cynthia Baker (John), of Bellefonte; two sons, Lynn S. Young (Glenna), of Waynesville, N.C., and Timothy Young, of Pleasant Gap; two sisters, Mildred Conklin, of Nittany and Loretta Lucas, of Bellefonte; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Elwood Roy Young on Dec. 19, 1944, and a brother, Earl Brobeck on Dec. 26, 1950. Family will receive friends on Thursday, June 10, 2010, from 6-8 p.m. at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral and Cremation Services, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall and from 10 AM until time of funeral services at Pleasant Gap United Methodist Church, 179 S. Main Street, Pleasant Gap. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 11, 2010, beginning at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Gap United Methodist Church with the Reverend Thomas Osif officiating. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery in Bellefonte. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Libby's memory to the Memorial Fund at Pleasant Gap United Methodist Church, 179 S. Main Street, Pleasant Gap, PA 16823. Obituary available at www.heintzelmanfuneralhome.com.

I ususally sat behind Libby at church and I always remember her wonderful smile and she was always first to say hello to you. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. It is hard to lose a mother, but rest assured, she will be with you everyday in memories.
