Elvera Bernice Lockwitz

Elvera Bernice Lockwitz March 8, 1921 -- December 11, 2018 Elvera Bernice Lockwitz Bitner, 97, of State College, died Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at Mt. Nittany Medical Center. Born March 8, 1921, in St. Joseph, Michigan she was the daughter of the late Christ and Alvina Kurtz Lockwitz. In 1941 in Bellefonte, she married Richard E. Bitner, who preceded her in death. Elvera is survived by her three sons, Richard E. Bitner, Jr. and his wife, Rose, of Guntersville, Alabama, Randall G. Bitner and his wife, Katherine, of State College and Robert T. Bitner and his wife, JoAnne, of Port St. Lucie, FL; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was a 1940 graduate of Bellefonte Area High School. Elvera graduated from Altoona Beauty School in 1939 and went on to own Elvera's Beauty Shop in Bellefonte. She enjoyed china painting, sewing, quilting and knitting. Graveside service and burial will be on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 1024 Mackeyville Road, Mill Hall, PA 17751, with Reverend Ann Graves officiating.
