Florence Pruss Obituary

Florence Pruss, aged 90, died peacefully at Mount Nittany Medical Center. She was born in rural Wayne County, Pennsylvania on the family farm near Lake Ariel to Stanley and Estelle Pruss. She graduated from Lake Ariel High School and Scranton Lackawanna College. She was employed as a civilian working with the US Air Force in Hawaii, then at Cape Canaveral, Florida working on the space shuttle project, and finally at the Pentagon in Washington DC. She retired to Scranton, PA and then moved to State College in 2006. She enjoyed working with flowers and gardening.

She is preceded in death by both parents and one brother, Stanley Pruss (Mary) and four sisters, Sister Paraclete Pruss, Loretta Pruss, Regina Grier (Jim), and Elizabeth Zeafla (Larry). She is survived by 4 brothers, Theodore Pruss (Arlene), Lawrence Pruss (Jan), Philip Pruss (Jeanne), and Raymond Pruss (Meg), and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church at Grays Wood State College on Friday April 17 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Our Lady of Victory Church in State College. Florence's ashes will be interred at St. Mary's Ledgedale Cemetery in Wayne County.
