Annabelle "Duffy" Peechatka, 96, of Reeders, passed away at Mrs. Bush's Personal Care Homes, Kunkletown on Thursday, March 26, 2026. She was the wife of the late Sharon "Ott" Peechatka, with whom she shared 63 years of marriage at the time of his passing in 2017.

Born on August 20,1929, in Scotrun, she was a daughter of the late George and Emma (Everitt) Niering and was a lifelong resident of Monroe County.

Annabelle was a 1947 graduate of Pocono Township High School and a 1951 graduate of Penn State University. She had been a third-grade teacher in the Stroudsburg School District for over 30 years.

Annabelle participated in many organizations over the years, including the Pocono Township High School and Penn State Alumni Associations, St. Paul's Sewing Group, the Pocono-Jackson Historical Society, The Pocono Garden Club, and the Red Cross Blood Drives and Daffodil Days. "Ott" and "Duffy" enjoyed many weekends at State College cheering on the Penn State football team. Annabelle was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Scotrun and their Women's Group.

Surviving are two children: Gregory Peechatka and wife Judy of Scotrun and Sherry Martin and husband Joseph of Reeders; four grandchildren: Bridget Townsend and husband Marion of Chestertown, MD; Leigh Ellen Mitchell and husband John of Throop; Deidre Martin of Waretown, NJ; and Joshua Martin and husband Ron DeVilliers of Oakland Park, FL; six great-grandchildren: Benjamin, Amelia, Wesley and PFC Rick Townsend, Gregory Kersavage and Brennan Mitchell; one great-great- grandchild: Amora Butler; brother-in-law: Burdett Peechatka and wife Lois of Bartonsville, brother-in-law Rolf Buchmann of Shohola; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Annabelle was predeceased by her siblings: Dr. William Niering and Bettina Buchmann.

Annabelle was loving, kind, fun, and will be greatly missed. Her family appreciates all the professional and loving care Annabelle received from the wonderful staff at Mrs. Bush's Personal Care Homes.

Cremation arrangements were entrusted to William H. Clark Funeral Home in Stroudsburg. Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family and will take place at St. John's Cemetery in Scotrun.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. John's Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 177, Scotrun, PA 18355, or to Mrs. Bush's Personal Care Homes Residents Fund, P.O. Box 327, Kunkletown, PA 18058.
