So sorry to hear of the passing of this wonderful lady. She was a friend and mentor to so many. She was a great lover and supporter of the arts and those of us from Allegheny Ballet appreciate all she has done. RIP dear friend!

I taught art at Hollidaysburg Senior High and was also the set director for several very successful play productions under Helens directorship. Helen, her husband Bob & I worked well together to create some memorable theater productions that our students seemed to enjoy. Every morning Helen & I had hall duty to see that everything ran smoothly with students getting ready for class. We did more talking than anything else. I always enjoyed Helens stories about her lifes journey with Bob and her two lovely girls. On of my own kids (Nini) had Helen as her English teacher. She would reflect on how Mrs.Harvey would sometimes get sidetracked with some of her life experiences, then the bell would end the class.? Nini didnt mind because Helens stories were truly interesting and much better than diagramming sentences. My wife and I moved, two years ago, right across the street from the house Helen & Bob lived in for many years in Sylvia Hills. I look out of my kitchen window and Im reminded of the great parties Helen & Bob would have in that very unique, beautiful house. Helen was a kind hearted, intelligent woman that gave her all to teaching students. I wish she was my neighbor. Im sad she is gone.

I remember Mrs. Harvey fondly from Hollidaysburg High School. Her enthusiasm and energy made class entertaining and memorable. She is the only teacher I ever had or know even today who recorded her classes daily. (In the late 80s she used cassette tapes!). Students who were absent were supposed to take the tape home and listen to it. (Im probably the only on who actually did...not sure, though.) I appreciated the hours she spent as the director of drama trying to mold us into young actors/actresses. Mrs. Harvey will remain in my mind as a pillar of HAHS. May the Lord comfort the family at this time and bring peace.

As a colleague and personal friend, I saw the impact Helen made on others. She was multitalented, loyal, and had a heart of gold. She was always the perfect hostess. She and Bob made people feel so welcome and comfortable in their home. My condolences and deepest sympathy to the family. RIP, Helen.

I have wonderful memories of Mrs. Harvey from my English classes. She was very spunky in her teaching, and I'll always remember her for that.
