Mrs. Lambert,

I only found out about Jim today. I've know Jim since he was about 19 years old. We were both in company 931 at Great Lake Illinois in Sep 1978. We also attended Hospital Corps School at Great Lake Illinois in late 1978 to Jan/Feb 1979. When Jim was CMC at HQMC I was the CMC at Marine force Reserve New Orleans. It funny our time in the Navy was much the same down to being with the Marine and IDC of Frigates. Jim was a great guy and an outstanding Master Chief Petty Officer he seemed to have time for everyone and was very helpful. He loved his sailors and his patients. It was odd I'd see Jim at a conference every 3 or 4 year we would chat and it was like we were old friends again. I'm sorry for your loss, I'm going to see if I have any old photos of Jim at home.

Hello Steph,

We never met but I worked with Jim at Headquarters Marine Corps. We sat side by side everyday and we talked just about everything and anything. I only knew Jim for a short time but he was an inspiration to me. I learned a lot from him and I always looked forward to our conversations. He was the one that got me started on collecting command coins and because of him, I now have more that I can count. Thanks Jim! He was a very knowledgable guy. I use to comment if the only channel he had at home was the History Channel. He knew about everything related to history and military history and I always found that very impressive. I was shocked to hear of his passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and Jim's two sons. He will be greatly missed by me and I'm sure by many others. I'm very sorry for your loss.

Sincerely,

Steve Perez

Hello,

First let me express my most sincere condolences on the loss of Jim. I was shocked to see that he had passed. Jim was a mentor to me during my early Naval career and he and I were shipmates in the Gulf War in Charlie company in 1991. I was a young HM3 and he was my Chief. I worked with him every day and we formed a strong relationship. He was a wonderful mentor to me and because of him I went to IDC School and became a Senior Chief in the Navy. I retired 3 years ago and chatted with Jim a few times on Together We Served that is how I heard of his passing. My life was touched by Jim and I am a better man from knowing him. He was a Shipmate and fellow Chief. He is greatly missed by me and he will not be forgotten. I am truly sorry for your loss.

Sincerely,

Jeff Puglisi
