John Bobeck Obituary

John R. Bobeck Jr. October 5, 1925September 23, 2004 John R. Bobeck Jr., 78, of 2 Rushinock Lane, Sugarloaf, died on Thursday, September 23, 2004 at Hospice Care of the Visiting Nurses Association, Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre after a six-month illness. Born in Hazleton, he was the son of the late John and Anna (Nastanovich) Bobeck. He was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society of the Parish. An Army veteran, he served during World War IIwith the 1777th Engineers Construction Battalion in France, the Philippine Islands and Japan. He was a 1943 graduate of Hazleton High School and had been employed by Acme Markets until his retirement in 1988. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, the former Mary Martin; children, Robert of Sugarloaf; Mrs. Edward (Mary Lee) O'Donnell of Conyngham; and Diane Fidishin of Sugarloaf; a brother, Paul, and his wife, Martha of Coopersburg; a sister, Mrs. Joseph (Anna) Kovalick of Sugar Grove, Illinois.; grandchildren, Eddie O'Donnell, Trista Gaughn, and Jamie and Casey Bobeck; a great-grandchild, John Gaughn, and several nieces and nephews. His funeral was held on Monday, September 27 at the Frank J. Bonin Funeral Home, Inc. in Hazleton followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph's Roman catholic Church. Interment followed in Calvary Cemetery, Drums. Donations to his memory may be made to St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 604 N. Laurel St., Hazleton, or Hospice Care of the VNA, in care of Thomas P. Saxton Medical Pavilion, 468 Northampton St., Edwardsville, PA 18704.
