John Glasgow Obituary

John Q. Glasgow Sr. August 29, 1933 December 8, 2016 With his loving family by his side, John Q. Glasgow, Sr., of Spring Mills, went home to be with the Lord on December 8, 2016, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. He was 83. Born August 29, 1933, in Millheim, John is a son of the late Carl M. and Marian A. (Rote) Glasgow. He was a graduate of East Penns Valley High School. On December 14, 1951, John married Lila J. Keen who preceded him in death on June 30, 2013, breaking a 62 year marriage. After graduation, John joined the military to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force. John owned and operated the Clover Farm store in Coburn for seven years and was also employed in management at G. C. Murphy. Eventually, John was employed at Cerro Metal and Brass and worked himself up to the position of CNC operator, a job that he did not go to school for but actually taught himself how to do at home during his time off. He became highly skilled and taught others at the plant how to perform the job also. He retired from Cerro with 30 years of service. John was an ordained minister having obtained his degree from Rhema Bible College. He was a member of Faith Alive Fellowship in Spring Mills where he was actively involved in the Salem Hill Haven ministry. He had a passion for souls and was a true prayer warrior, daily going to the church to pray. He was an avid woodworker, building many pieces of quality furniture. Earlier in life, John had obtained his pilot's license and loved flying and go cart racing. He was a model airplane enthusiast, building and flying his planes in contests. John is survived by one daughter, Tami M. Stover, of Hartsville, S.C.; two sons, John Q. Glasgow, Jr. (Jackie), of Laurens, S.C. and Robert J. Glasgow (Tish), of Spring Mills; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Nanette Immel and Doris Bittner. In addition to his wife, John was preceded in death by one daughter, Fawne Daugherty. A visitation for family and friends will be held at Faith Alive Fellowship on Monday, December 12, 2016, from 10-11 a.m., followed by the funeral service with Pastor Chris Korn officiating. John will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery. Contributions in his memory may be given to Faith Alive Fellowship, 4394 Penns Valley Road, Spring Mills, PA 16875. To my Glasgow family, So very sorry about Uncle John, he was a great man, who I totally loved!! I will remember as a teenager I fell and sprained my ankle one day while visiting, he scooped me right up and drove to the hospital...What a sight it must have been, him being such a short guy carrying a tall teenage girl!! I miss our biweekly emails!!! Rest in peace dear uncle!!!! Much Love!
