John Hanselman Obituary

John E. Hanselman February 16, 1935 January 2, 2016 John E. Hanselman, 80, of Madisonburg, passed away on January 2, 2016, at the Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born on February 16, 1935, in Wolfs Store, he was the son of the late John W. and Dorothy A. Garrett Hanselman. On October 17, 1953, in the Grace Chapel in Livonia, he married Rita R. Greninger, who survives at home. John was a 1953 graduate of Penns Valley High School. His class was the first to graduate from that school under the name. He was of the protestant faith. John worked at Corning Glass Works in State College, retiring after 30 years of service. John enjoyed professional football and baseball, especially the Oakland A's He was an avid reader, looking forward to reading the newspaper every day. His passion was in the woods. He loved to be in the outdoors, hunting all types of game, or just going to walks through the forest. He was a true outdoorsman. Along with his wife of 62 years, John is survived by his two sons, J. Michael Hanselman and his wife, Jamie, of Sterling, Va. and Robin B. Hanselman and his wife, Kathy, of Foxes Gap. Also surviving is his sister, Kay Boob and her husband, John, of Woodward; five grandchildren, Adam and his wife, Adrienne, Garrett and his wife, Ashley, Reagan Barbossa and her husband, Michael, Dustin and his wife, Becca, and Brandon and his wife, Pyper; and nine great grandchildren. Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by one great grandson, Brycen. Funeral services will be held on January 8, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the Grace Chapel in Livonia with Pastor Marvin Freed officiating. Burial will follow at the Livonia Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Livonia Cemetery Association, 7109 Brush Valley Rd., Rebersburg, PA 16872. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kader-Neff Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 135 Main St., Howard. Sorry to hear of John's passing . I worked with John at Corning Glass for many years and also had the pleasure of hunting with him several times .
