Robert Hanselman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Roan Family Funeral Home - Pembroke on Feb. 4, 2026.
Barnstead – Robert M. Hanselman, 70, of Barnstead, passed away with his family by his side on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at his residence.

He was born on February 18, 1955, in Newark, New Jersey, the son of the late Kenneth and Kathleen (Cleary) Hanselman. Bob was one of seven children and coming from a large family, the love, the family ties and of course the "craziness" was abundant. Siblings became best friends. Bob enjoyed adventure, fishing, hiking, camping, sledding and ice skating. He had a thirst for knowledge and was inquisitive about all things which made him very intellectual. He was very witty, full of unending stories all portrayed as true though we all knew Bob. He kept relationships alive and wore his heart on his sleeve. You always knew how Bob felt.

Bob was educated in St. Joseph's the Carpenter School in Roselle, continued his education in West Essex Regional High School in North Caldwell, NJ and went on to earn his bachelor's degree from William Paterson University in Political Science.

Bob worked for many years in computer software publishing sales initially for the major national newspapers and then branched out to software sales to additional industries. He traveled nationally and internationally in his career and loved it, China being his favorite destination. He was an avid reader, a writer at heart, (and artist) and deeply devoted to his church family. He was a proud member of Joy Church in Pittsfield.

Bob was a Heart Transplant recipient in 2009 and was blessed with 16 additional years of life. Throughout the journey, the medical care, compassion and support provided by the Heart Transplant Team at Brigham and Women's Hospital was truly incredible. Bob was profoundly grateful for the dedication shown by everyone at the hospital and our family remains thankful for the time we were given because of their expertise and kindness.

Bob believed confidence could carry you just about anywhere-and often did. He never met a stranger, insisted on conversation wherever he went, and had a habit of talking his way into situations he may or may not have been qualified for. He loved good stories and making people laugh. His greatest pride, however, was his son, Jared, who truly meant the world to him and whom he spoke of often and with unmistakable love. Above all, Bob wanted to be remembered for his love-his love for his family and friends, and the deep connections he formed with others, and the way he used humor, conversation, and confidence to remind people they mattered.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Maureen, Eileen, and Sean.

He is survived by his son, Jared Hanselman, and his wife, Erin Stone; his siblings, Kathleen Peltier (Brian), Kevin Hanselman, and Joanne Stiesi (Gary); his special nephew, Sean White, his sister-in-law, Eleana Hanselman and his former wife Susan Hanselman, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held June 27, 2026, 11am, at his home. For details about his Celebration of Life please visit: www.thefoxandcrowfarm.com/rmhanselman
