Elene Dohner

PEMBROKE – Elene (Owens) Dohner, 83, of Pembroke, formerly of Brookville and New Lebanon, OH, passed away peacefully but unexpectedly on Monday, January 14, 2026, at home with her loving family by her side after a period of declining health.

Born on February 26, 1942, in Dayton, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Owens and Rose (Glick) Neal. She was the beloved wife of 66 years to Earl Richard Dohner who predeceased her in 2024.

Raised in New Lebanon, OH, Elene attended Dixie High School, where she met the love of her life, Earl. The two were high school sweethearts and were married on June 8, 1958. Elene passed in her sleep at home and went to meet Earl in heaven.

She was employed at Stockslager's Garden Center and also worked by hosting home parties with Dutchmaid, later continuing with Queensway for several years. Elene especially enjoyed hosting home parties and meeting people, which led her to continue with Home Interiors after leaving Queensway. From 1982 to 1999, she and Earl worked together to help start and operate a business.

A devoted Christian, Elene was a faithful member of Christian Life Center, where she and Earl volunteered as couples coaches, led Bible study groups, and served as greeters during Sunday services until they were no longer able. In her quieter moments, she found great joy in tending to her flower beds.

Elene is survived by her children, Rodney Dohner and his wife, Jeanette of New Lebanon, OH and Diane Lavallee and her husband, Steve of Pembroke, NH; grandchildren, Parker Miller and his wife, Erin of Sault St. Marie, MI, Michael Lavallee of Raymond, NH, Donna Hart of Raymond, NH and Kathy Tynan of Rochester, NY; great-grandchildren, Calla and Eden Miller of Sault St. Marie, MI, Cameron Marden of Pembroke, NH, Kaitlin Morani and her husband, Tyler of Derry, NH, Christopher Harvey of Raymond, NH and Alicia Angelidas of VT; great-great-grandchildren, Makenzie, Myles and Tyler; siblings, Gloria Stone and her husband, Lenval of Phillipsburg, OH, Terry Morris of Lewisburg, OH, and Carol Duke and her husband, Edward of Brookville, OH; and many, many nieces and nephews.
