John Lucas Obituary

John Lucas

May 24, 1930 - September 27, 2024

State College, Pennsylvania - The Phillies lost one of their biggest fans on September 27, 2024, when John (Jack) Lucas passed away at Juniper Village in State College. Jack was born on May 24, 1930, a son to the late Charles and Emma (Lomison) Lucas.

He was a graduate of Lock Haven High School and went on to proudly serve in the United States Navy.

He later retired from Penn State in 1986 after 32 years.

On October 17, 1952, he married Barbara J. Price who preceded him in death on the exact date 12 years earlier after sharing nearly 60 years together.

Jack is survived by two daughters, Linda Moseley, Texas, and Cathy (Mike) Capparelle, Bellefonte; daughter in law, Jillia Lucas, Reading; as well as four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

In addition to his parents and six siblings, Jack was preceded in death by his beloved son, David A. Lucas.

The family would like to thank Juniper Village for all the love and care he was given. He truly enjoyed the last years of his life.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

For many years Jack was the carpool driver for several of us from Bellefonte to Penn State.
In later years it was a happy occasion to run into him at Hoss´s and get caught up on happenings in both our lives. Fond memories! Sincere sympathy to the family.

I'm sorry to hear about Jack's passing. I worked with Jack in the College of Agricultural Sciences and he was always a fine co worker and true gentleman. We also shared the love of our Phillies! My condolences to Jack's family. May he Rest In Peace.
