Kenneth F. "Buck" Smith

Kenneth F. 'Buck' Smith July 13, 1938 - June 19, 2012 Kenneth F. 'Buck' Smith, of Bellefonte, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. He was born in Bellefonte on July 13, 1938, a son of the late Robert P. and Jean H. (Sasserman) Smith. On Dec. 29, 1956, he married Larue Houser, also of Bellefonte. Kenneth served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1959, including a 19 month tour in Korea. He was employed by West Penn Power for 31 years, retiring in 1999. Post retirement, Kenneth enjoyed spending time with his friends at Watson's Garage in Milesburg. He is survived by his wife of 56 years and two children, David A. Smith (Jan), of Bellefonte, and Darla Miller (Danny), of Bellefonte. Additionally, he is survived by three grandchildren, Lindsey Rogers and Cody Smith, of Bellefonte and Lacie J. Smith, of New York; and one great grandchild, Keegan Zachary Rogers, of Bellefonte. Also surviving are one sister, Patricia Stevens, of State College; one brother, Donald Smith, of Bellefonte; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by one grandson, Zachary Settle, of Bellefonte, and a brother, Fred Smith. Friends will be received Friday, June 22, 2012, from 10-11 a.m., at the Faith United Methodist Church, 512 Hughes St., Bellefonte, PA 16823. The funeral service will immediately follow at 11 a.m., at the church, with Rev. Andrew Morgan officiating. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Faith United Methodist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., Bellefonte.
