Laveta R. Piemme

Laveta R. Piemme May 13, 1920 July 30, 2016 On July 30, 2016, Laveta R. Piemme passed away peacefully at Centre Crest Nursing Home in Bellefonte. Laveta was born on May 13, 1920, in Irvine Ky., one of ten Covey children. She married Lt. Col. Walter C. Piemme on December 19, 1941, and traveled the world with him for nearly 25 years as a loving wife and mother. Together they retired to Washington, Penna. in November 1964, where she lived until Walter's passing in March of 2002. She moved to State College later that year to be near her daughter, Laveta Patricia. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Washington and was known for her beautiful altar decorations. She was also a very gifted artist. She lived her life by the code of loving one another, always wanting everyone to get along. After Jesus, her family was of supreme importance. Surviving are her son Walter and wife Jan, daughter Laveta and husband John Kuhn; three grandsons David and wife Jen, Keith and wife Amy, Jonas Butler and partner Deborah Klein; three great grandchildren Maddie, Aiden, and Kate Piemme; sister-in-law Doris Covey; loving nieces Ranae Pettruny and Laura Clouse; along with many other nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by all her siblings; husband Walter; and great grandson Wyatt Piemme. Our heart-felt gratitude to Centre Crest for the love and compassion they provided in her care the last three years of her life.
