Bellefonte, Pennsylvania - Nathan Michael Dan, 16, of Bellefonte, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2024. Born on January 17, 2008, in State College to Caitlinn Benner and Michael J. Dan, Jr. Nathan was fortunate to have two families that love him. Caitlinn Benner and Richard Snare survive at their home in Bellefonte with little brother Grayson and fur-sisters Izzy and Luna. Michael J. Dan, Jr. and Tasha Huffman survive at their Niagara Falls, NY home with little brother Nash, baby-boy on the way and stepsister Lilly.
He is loved by his grandparents, Roger and Heather Benner, of Bellefonte, Jim and Lisa Snare of Karthaus, Bonnie Leibert of New Orleans LA, and Michael and Mary Dan, Sr. of Niagara Falls NY. Also loved by his aunts, uncles and (cousins): Evan and Karli Benner (Phoebe and Gabriel) of Bellefonte, Chris and Tiara Snare (Owen and Zayden) of Bellefonte, Melinda Snare (Wyatt and Emmett) of Guntersville, AL, Stephanie and Grady Fleitas (Lilyin and Grady) of New Orleans, Amanda Dan (Hayden and Jaxon) of New Orleans, Samantha and Cash Cooley (Remi, Creed and Banks) of Austin, TX and Jasmine Dan of Niagara Falls, NY. He is survived by countless great aunts, great uncles, and second cousins.
He is preceded in death by his loving great grandparents, GG Peggy Price, Pap-Pap Fred and Great Gram Helen Benner, Grandma Bonnie Dan and MawMaw Hedy Liebert.
Always a Bellefonte Area School District student, he attended elementary at Pleasant Gap. He was currently a sophomore in the Class of 2026 at the Bellefonte Area High School where he excelled academically and athletically. He, recently, discovered his love of lacrosse and played Varsity for the last two seasons on the Bellefonte Boys Lacrosse Team. Nate's love of basketball began as a tyke, when he could first hold a ball. He was a member of the Bellefonte Boys Basketball Junior Varsity team.
Nathan will always be remembered as being a kind, funny, and mature young man. He loved his family and participating in family events, vacations and holidays. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan with Rich and brother Grayson. He loved NBA games and listening to music, especially Drake. Nate loved to play X-Box and hang out with his friends whenever he could.
Although his life ended far too soon, the light that he brought into the world will not be dimmed, as the memories that he leaves his loved ones and friends with will forever live on through the lives that he touched.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024, from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM, at the Watermarke Church, 1690 Zion Road, Bellefonte. Funeral Services will begin at 1:00 PM, at the church, with Brad Heltman officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
