Roberta Aldrich Obituary

Roberta Ann Aldrich December 13, 1925 - January 18, 2008 Roberta Ann Aldrich, 82, of Lewisburg, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, at RiverWoods in Lewisburg. Born Dec. 13, 1925, in Aberdeen, Wash., she was a daughter of the late George LaForest Miller Bowlby and Jessie Frances (McCord) Bowlby. She and her husband of 61 years, Robert Adams Aldrich, were married Aug. 27, 1946, in Aberdeen, Wash. They lived in Mansfield Center, Ct. before moving to Lewisburg in 2001. Roberta was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Lewisburg. She possessed a competitive spirit, which was evident when she played cards, because she liked to win. Roberta also enjoyed cooking, downhill skiing and golf, and had a green thumb with plants and flowers. Surviving in addition to her husband are four daughters and two sons-in-law, Gail J. Cayton, of Lewisburg, Margaret A. and Eric S. Tupper, of Williamsport, Kathleen and Gary Jones, of Harrisburg, and Susan C. Stallsmith, of Lewisburg; a sister, Virginia Sadler, of Virginia Beach, Va.; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Berntson, of Chisago City, Minn., M. Eleanor Martin of Columbus, N. J., and Elsie Aldrich, of Troy, N. Y.; five grandchildren, Daniel B. Jones and his wife, Anna, of York Springs, Caron Leone and her husband, Matt, of Plymouth, Mass., Eric W. Tupper and his wife, Brianne, of Williamsport, Shelagh Tupper, of Fort Collins, Colo., and John Stallsmith and his wife, Alison Bell, of Middletown; and eight great-grandchildren, Philip, Damien, Karol, Patrick, Gregory, Daniel P. and Helena Jones and Rowan Tupper. She was predeceased by an infant son, Steven C. Aldrich. Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, at St. John's United Church of Christ, 1050 Buffalo Road, Lewisburg, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m., officiated by her pastor, the Rev. Paula M. Gustafson. Burial will be held in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at the convenience of the family. The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to either the University of Connecticut Foundation Inc., P. O. Box 150412, Hartford, CT 06115-0412 or St. John's United Church of Christ, 1050 Buffalo Road, Lewisburg, PA 17837. Arrangements are being handled by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, Lewisburg.

I remember the Aldrich Family well
from my days of living in State College and remember when the girls
all worked for me as Banquet waitresses at The Nittany Lion Inn.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this most trying and difficult time in all of your lives.
