Russell Ault Obituary

Russell H. Ault March 1, 1918 - October 28, 2006 Russell H. Ault, 88, of State College, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born March 1, 1918, in Altoona, he was a son of the late John S. and Elda Russell Ault. On May 11, 1946, he married Evelyn Johnson, who survives at home. He graduated from Huntingdon Area High School in 1936 where he participated in football, baseball, and basketball. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired in 1978 after 25 years as the executive assistant to the superintendent at the State Correctional Institute at Rockview. He also served for nine years on the Pennsylvania Board of Parole and as a parole officer in Altoona and Butler. From 1978 to 1990 he was a real estate agent for Kissinger, Leonard and Brower. He was a member of the State College Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and elder. He was a life member of the State College B.P.O.E. Number 1600 and life member of the Standing Stone Veterans of Foreign Wars Post Number 1754. He also was a member of the Centre Hills Country Club, Miles Grant Country Club in Stuart, Fla., National Retired Officer's Association, and the Pennsylvania Association of Parole, Parole and Correction, where he served as director for six years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his grandson, James R. Ault Jr., of Harrisburg; a sister, Florence Beaver, of Huntingdon; a daughter-in-law Deborah Ault-Wilt and her husband Terry Wilt, of State College; a sister-in-law Mae Morris, of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son James R. Ault on April 5, 1980. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday Oct. 31, 2006, at the State College Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dr. Charles J. Curley officiating. Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the State College Presbyterian Church, 132 W. Beaver Ave., State College, PA 16801 or to the American Cancer Society, 123 S. Sparks St., State College, PA 16801. Arrangements are under the direction of Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College.
