Ryan da Costa-Miller Obituary

State College, Pennysylvania--Ryan unexpectedly passed away on April 17, 2023 at the age of 31. Ryan was born in State College and was baptized at the St. John United Church of Christ in Tylersville, Pennsylvania on June 28, 1992. Ryan attended State College Area High School and Penn State. He was awarded the Diversified Occupation Outstanding Student award. While at Penn State he became a brother of Alpha Rho Chi and cherished being a part of the APX family as well as participating in THON activities.
On October 3, 2020, he married the love of his life, Rondinelle da Costa-Miller in Central Park. Ryan had an infectious smile, striking blue eyes, and a contiguous laugh that captured everyone's hearts. He loved to travel, especially to New York City, and try new foods. He was adventurous, unapologetically himself, outspoken, and the life of every party. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and camping at Hills Creek. He was the reigning champ at Skip-Bo and Super Smash Bros. and looked forward to the annual bow shoot. Ryan strived to be a friend to any animal he came across on his journeys. Most of all, he loved the time he spent with his family and friends.
For 16 years Ryan gave his best at Wegmans serving as cashier, produce member, store operations intern, service desk member, coffee barista, seafood associate, cookie decorator, bread baker, baking team leader, sub shop team leader, service team leader, and most recently, bake shop team leader.
Ryan is survived by those who he loved and who also loved him to the moon and back, his husband, Rondinelle da Costa-Miller. His father, Larry Miller. His mother, Crystal (Bressler), and stepfather, John Switalski. His brother, Martin and sister, Olivia Switalski. His mother-in-law, Maria Geralda Dutra da Costa and brother-in-law, Riccelly da Costa of Brazil. His Uncles, Richard Miller, David Miller (Wendy), Michael Miller, all of Tylersville, Steven Miller, of Lock Haven, Peter Switalski (Carolee) of Gibsonia, Paul Switalski of New York; Aunts, Nicole Bressler (Rob), of Millheim, Gwendolyn Hayes (George), of Tylersville, and Cheryl Calzada, of Loganton; Ann Miller (Bary) of Oregon; Mary Meres (John) of Virginia. He is also survived by numerous cousins that he loved creating memories with. Ryan was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Richard T. Miller, Jr. and Floretta (Guisewite) Miller.
Ryan, we will miss you, your smile, your hugs, your laughter, your charisma, your way of being, your way of speaking, and persistence with learning Brazilian culture. The sky is having a party Lord, welcome this son of yours into your arms.
To those experiencing what feels like an unimaginable situation take one day at a time, hold on to your faith, love one another, and know you are loved! "Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you." Deuteronomy 31:6
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m., on Monday, April 24, 2023 at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 South Atherton Street, State College. A Memorial Service will follow at 7 p.m., at the funeral home, with Father Jozef Kovacik and Deacon Jack Orlandi officiating.

We are so very sorry for Ryan´s loss. He was the best, an all-around wonderful kid, we loved hearing stories about him, his wedding in Central Park, and of course, being neighbors, the `great fire´ will always make us laugh, and there are no words for how sorry we are.

To the family of dear Ryan... I was a coworker of Ryan's in the Bakery at Wegmans for many years. I am truly sorry for the loss of such a beautiful, bright and shining person. We had many great moments at work together. He has made such an impact on so many people and will be forever in our hearts. My heart is so broken over his loss and for your family's sake. I pray for healing for all who have been affected by his passing at such a young and vibrant age. Sending all my love and prayers . May God bless you all... With great sympathy, Janine Golden, Wegmans Bakery associate.
