Bellefonte, Pennsylvania - Samuel H. Vonada, Jr., 87, of Bellefonte, passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Lock Haven Rehabilitation and Senior Living. Born on August 30, 1936, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Samuel H. Vonada, Sr. and Myrtle (Beckwith) Vonada. On August 26, 1962, he married the love of his life, Anna (Walker) Vonada, who survives at her home after sharing 61 years of marriage together.
Samuel was a 1955 graduate of Bellefonte High School. He worked for Telemedia for over 30 years until his retirement in 2001.
In addition to his wife, Anna, he is survived by his three children, Samuel Adam Vonada, Aaron Vonada, both of Bellefonte, and Elizabeth "Beth" Yazemboski (Michael) of Valencia, PA, four grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Helen Shope of Florida.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by a grandson, Eric Vonada, and three sisters.
Samuel was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Bellefonte. Additionally, he was a life member of the Logan Fire Company in Bellefonte. As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed going camping as well as hunting when he was younger. He also loved tending to his garden at home.
A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., 206 N. Spring Street, Bellefonte. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM, at the funeral home, with Rev. Ann Graves officiating. Burial services will immediately follow at Union Cemetery in Bellefonte.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Samuel to St. John's United Church of Christ, 145 W. Linn Street, Bellefonte, PA 16823.
