Sara L. Riser

Sara L. Riser February 26, 1916- May 28, 2005 Sara L. Riser, 89, of Bellefonte, was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 28, 2005, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born Feb. 26, 1916, in Dunbar, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Sara Pierce Gouker. On June 19, 1941, she married the Rev. James L. Riser, who survives at home. She was a 1934 graduate of Dunbar Township High School. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bellefonte. She and her husband James recently celebrated their 63rd anniversary on June 19, 2004. She was a devoted wife and loving mother. She was a faithful disciple of the Lord by doing missionary work and teaching Sunday School for children and adults in the various parishes where her husband served. She worked many years as a volunteer at the Centre Crest nursing home in Bellefonte and she also volunteered at the Centre Community Hospital when it was located in Bellefonte. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Harold Sr., and his wife, Molly, of Port Matilda, and Daniel, and his wife Sherry, of Chester, Md.; a daughter, Carole Ann Albright and her husband, Harry, of Mechanicsburg; seven grandchildren, Harold Jr., Jeffrey, Amy, Daniel II, Diana, Theresa Walls, and Sharon Albright; three great-grandchildren, Kiley and Karley Riser and Augustus Walls; and several nieces and nephews. She was the last of her generation. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters; and six brothers. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at Wetzler Funeral Home, 206 N. Spring St., Bellefonte. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. William Wessel officiating. Burial will be in Zion Union Cemetery, Walker Township. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 539 Jacksonville Road, Bellefonte, PA 16823.
