Shirley Keller Obituary

Shirley Keller May 8, 1931 May 1, 2017 Shirley Keller, 85, a longtime resident of State College, passed away at Harrison Senior Living, Georgetown, Del., surrounded by her family on May 1, 2017. She was the wife of the late Elwood Keller, who passed away in 2009, after 55 years of marriage. Born May 8, 1931, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of J. Earl Rimmey and Elsie Herman Rimmey. Shirley was a 1949 graduate of Bellefonte High School. She was employed by The Pennsylvania State University in the department of Agriculture, retiring in 1991. An avid Pittsburgh Pirates and Penn State football fan, Shirley also enjoyed bridge, travel and singing. She was a 50 year member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church of State College and being a member of the choir was especially meaningful to her. She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Hall, and her husband, Kenneth, of Ocean View, Del.; her son, James Keller, his wife, Cheryl, and their daughter, Madeleine, of Avon Conn. Preceding her in death was her son, E. Eugene Keller. Shirley will be lovingly missed by her family and all who knew her. Her beautiful voice, friendliness and smile provided joy for her assisted living family at Atria, Salisbury Md., in her later years. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation for all of those who cared for Shirley. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Shirley's memory may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 250 E. College Ave., State College, PA 16801 or Alzheimer's Association, 270 Walker Dr., Suite 15, State College PA 16801. Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation on Friday, May 5, 2017, from 6-8 p.m. at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College. The service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Koch Funeral Home, 2401 S. Atherton St., State College, with Rev. Greg Milinovich officiating. Interment will be at Centre County Memorial Park immediately following the services. Arrangements are under the care of Koch Funeral Home, State College.
